The Thousand-Needle Spires: Pteranodon Perch-Peckings
The air in the Thousand-Needle Spires is thin and sharp with the scent of ozone and old blood. High above, on precarious perches accessible only by a network of ancient, crumbling catwalks, the great Pteranodons roost. Their eggs, said to grant visions or perhaps just a terrifying vitality, are coveted. You arrive not as a hero, but as a scavenger, a scholar, or a desperate soul following discarded lures—exotic baits left by egg thieves who now dangle lifelessly from the talons of the enraged parents. Your goal: survive the spires, navigate the conflict between those who would protect this brutal ecosystem and those who would exploit it to survive, and decide whose vision of the future is worth the eggs that lie at the heart of it all.
Chronicle Prelude
The Basecamp of Wind-Whispered Bargains, a precarious settlement built into the lee of the tallest spire. Ropes and crude ladders connect platform shacks. The air is filled with the cries of distant Pteranodons and the murmur of desperate factions. Discarded exotic lures—feathered hooks, shimmering chum, and carved bone whistles—litter the lower catwalks, remnants of failed or fatal expeditions.
Environmental Traits
The Thousand-Needle Spires are a vertical labyrinth of jagged rock pinnacles, connected by ancient, weather-worn stone catwalks and rope bridges. The ecosystem is dominated by territorial Pteranodons who view the spires as their ancestral rookery. The immediate crisis is a population boom and increased aggression due to stolen eggs, threatening to make the entire region uninhabitable. Two factions see the eggs as the key to very different solutions.
