The Unraveling Circuit of Mithril Vault
Deep beneath the earth, the Mithril Vault—a lost duergar citadel of unparalleled arcane engineering—has begun to fail. Its sentinel war-golems and guard hounds, once paragons of disciplined defense, now suffer from 'logic deadloops': cascading malfunctions that trigger indiscriminate, violent rampages. A rogue arcanist's experiment with an Arcane Jammer has corrupted the Vault's central command lattice, and the resulting chaos has drawn two desperate factions. You are scavengers, scholars, or hired blades, drawn by the promise of mithril or the need to stop the spreading madness. The Vault does not care about your intentions. It only processes, and the process is breaking.
Chronicle Prelude
You stand in the fungal-lit caverns of the Underdark outpost, 'Dripstone Haven'. The air is thick with the smell of mold and ozone. Scraps of mithril plating are traded like currency, and whispered warnings about 'the rampaging dogs' and 'the broken city' are common. A newly arrived, frantic gnome scholar is offering a small fortune for safe escort into the Vault's outer districts.
Environmental Traits
The Mithril Vault's malfunctioning arcane core is overloading. If the logic deadloops are not stabilized or the corrupted central command lattice is shut down permanently, the rampages will grow more frequent and violent, eventually drawing the attention of far worse things in the Deep Dark, or causing a catastrophic arcane detonation that will seal the Vault and everyone inside forever.
