Its legendary Card Catalog—a metaphysical index binding the city's legal and mystical frameworks—is locked in a viscous, amber-like sap that has oozed from its own warded base. Factions war over control of this crisis, one seeking to purge the contamination at any cost, the other arguing it is a vital new evolution. You are hired to diagnose the lockdown, but will soon realize every truth is thick as syrup and every choice irreversible.

Chronicle Prelude

The Grand Rotunda of the Veridias Archive. Towering shelves of mundane records surround the central, humming Card Catalog structure. A circle of anxious Archivists in ink-stained robes debates near the roped-off, sap-oozing cabinet. The air smells of old paper and sharp, unnatural sweetness.

Environmental Traits

The sap, known as 'The Adherence,' is spreading, slowly petrifying knowledge and those who touch it. If unchecked, it will solidify the entire Archive, then the city's laws, trapping Veridias in eternal, unbreakable stasis. The source must be found in the deepest vault, the 'Cataloger's Sanctum.'
