The Weathered Court: Stone Whispers and the Missing Crown
You are drawn to the ruins of the Weathered Court, a once-magnificent palace now frozen in a silent, petrified tableau. Its stone courtiers, eternally posed in moments of revelry and despair, are said to hold the secret to the missing Obsidian Diadem—a crown of immense arcane power. Two factions now vie for control of the site and the Diadem, each with a claim to the throne it represents. The air hums with latent magic, and every statue's gaze feels watchful. Veteran adventurers will find no simple 'good' here, only desperate choices between flawed ideologies.
Chronicle Prelude
The Overgrown Courtyard: You arrive at the outer perimeter of the Weathered Court. The once-grand gates hang askew, choked by ancient, thorny vines. Beyond, you can see the first ranks of the stone courtiers, frozen in mid-stride on a cracked marble plaza. A path winds toward the palace's main hall, but two distinct camps are visible nearby: one of scholarly tents and arcane wards, the other a fortified camp of armored soldiers. The air smells of petrichor and old stone.
Environmental Traits
The region is gripped by a magical petrification curse that has slowly expanded from the palace grounds for the last decade, threatening to swallow the nearby frontier town of Stonefall. The source is the shattered Obsidian Diadem, its shards embedded in the palace's heart, and its crown jewel—now missing. If the Diadem is not properly contained or destroyed, the curse will accelerate. Victory means deciding the fate of the Court: restore its arcane power under a new monarch, destroy it to end the curse forever, or seize it for personal dominion.
