The Weeping Rot: Frenzy in the Morass
The Misty Morass, a once-living swamp choked by a unnatural, pulsating growth, is dying. Or rather, it is being transformed. Mutant carnivorous willows, their roots drunk on a potent alchemical catalyst, have erupted into a perpetual preying-frenzy. Anything that bleeds is torn asunder. The few inhabitants blame the Thornebrook Apothecaries, whose runoff from root-enhancing experiments is suspected to be the cause. But the Apothecaries claim their work is vital—a desperate bid to cultivate a root-based plague cure before a greater sickness consumes the world. You have been hired by a desperate caravan master to find a safe path through the morass, but the truth runs deeper than any root.
Chronicle Prelude

Merchants whisper of the 'Frenzy,' while a contingent of the Thornebrook Apothecaries' Guild, led by a stern alchemist, has set up a quarantine station. A lone, scarred ranger from the morass-dwelling Thornfolk stands in tense opposition, her eyes burning with accusation.
