Perdition Gulch's Lost Star
In the sun-bleached town of Perdition Gulch, the sheriff is found dead. His official star has been replaced. An itinerant investigator arrives to navigate a landscape of whispered rumors, contested land, and personal secrets.
Initial Crime Scene
The thick scent of old leather and gun oil hangs in the air, undercut by a faint, dry floral smell. A single, distinct boot-heel tread marks the floorboards, leading past a high, stargazer's window where dust motes swirl in a slanted beam of light, catching on the frayed leather straps of a forgotten satchel.
Crime Scene Environment
A sun-bleached, oppressive quiet defines the sandbox. Lighting is harsh and directional from high windows, creating stark shadows. The air is dry and dusty, with acoustic density muffled by thick adobe walls, where every creak of a floorboard or distant whinny of a horse carries with unnatural clarity.
Investigation Constraints
Hand-operated printing presses, telegraph machines (limited to major hubs), oil lanterns, manual locks, horse-drawn transport, basic firearms, hand-drawn maps, and rudimentary mechanical alarm systems (like tension wires with bells).
