The Dustfall Distortion
The body of a town figure is found on the saloon floor. Each person present carries a separate secret, and their individual anxieties contaminate the physical evidence. The scene presents a series of objective contradictions.
Initial Crime Scene
The scent of cheap tobacco and stale beer hangs in the air. A slow, grating click emanates from a wind-up pocket watch on the bar. In the dim candlelight, the spiderweb crack in the large wall-mounted mirror fragments the view of a green felt faro table. The whiskey-stained wooden bar dominates the room, its surface reflecting the flickering oil lamp. Rust-colored dust coats the floorboards near the bar's edge.
Crime Scene Environment
Lighting is provided by a single hanging oil lamp, casting a circle of yellow light and leaving corners in deep shadow. The air is dry and carries a faint, cool dampness from the potbelly stove's unspent coal. Acoustic density is low, marked by the pocket watch's tick and the distant scrape of a chair leg.
