Initial Crime Scene
The first breath inside the station office catches in your throat—the acrid scent of iron filings from the telegraph key mingles with the stale sweat of fear. A sharp, rhythmic tapping echoes from a telegraph pole outside, a metronome of tension against the low hum of a distant wagon. Your eyes immediately fixate on the deep, jagged stress fractures in the strongbox hasp, a web of black cracks against dull metal. To your left, the stagecoach ledger lies open, its pages thick with the gritty texture of frontier dust. Through the office window, a faded wanted poster, its corners curled and worn, stares back at you from the bulletin board.
