Initial Crime Scene
The door to the Special Collections room closes behind you with a soft, final click. The air is still, carrying the distinct scent of beeswax polish and old vellum. Your eyes adjust to the dim light from a single high window, illuminating dust motes drifting over the glass surface of a large display case. The case stands empty, its clasp open, a faint smear on the glass near its label.
Crime Scene Environment
Lighting is a mix of focused, dim display lamps and natural, slanted light from high windows, creating areas of deep shadow. The humidity is low, maintained for preservation, making the air feel dry and slightly sterile. Acoustic density is high; the space is hushed, swallowing sound, with the faint, distant hum of the building's boiler the only persistent note.
