The Chromatic Drought: A Fable of Fading Hues
The once-radiant Chromatic Springs, source of all color and arcane vitality in the Gilded Vale, are dying. The waters grow pale, the land grays, and the magical flora withers. At the basin's heart, a mysterious alchemical deposit is accelerating the decay. Two desperate factions seek a solution, each convinced their path is the only salvation. Veteran players must navigate a web of half-truths, alchemical sabotage, and a final choice that will permanently alter the valley's essence.
Chronicle Prelude
The players arrive at Gilder's Rest, a caravanserai built around the last semi-vibrant pool. The air smells of damp earth and fading dye. Merchants hawk desaturated goods, and a worried Alchemist's Guildhall stands as the central hub, its windows casting a sickly yellow light.
Environmental Traits
The entire Gilded Vale faces an existential chromatic drought. The springs, which once powered everything from agriculture to enchantment, are failing. Without intervention, the valley will become a lifeless gray wasteland, its people and magic fading into oblivion.
