The Crucible of Ashen Truth
Beneath the smoking slag heaps of a failed dwarven smeltery, two desperate factions war over the last source of pure arcane heat. The Corebound, engineers who believe controlled fusion can save their homeland from a creeping magical ice age, have tapped into a primordial fire node. The Ashen Wardens, a druidic circle who revere the land's elemental balance, claim the Corebound's 'excess flux' is unraveling the geothermal veins, risking a continental-scale burn-through. Veteran players will navigate crumbling foundries, negotiate with fanatics, and ultimately decide whether progress or preservation—and which people—survive.
Chronicle Prelude
The party arrives at the half-buried 'Ignis Landing' settlement, built into the cooling exhaust tunnels of the Great Smeltery. The air shimmers with residual heat, and the ground is warm to the touch. Refugees from both sides skulk in the shanties, while a massive, silent blast furnace looms in the central cavern, its maw dark and cold.
Environmental Traits
The Corebound's experimental 'Furnace Heart' is bleeding unstable thermal energy into the world's ley lines, creating localized reality bleeds and fire surges. The Ashen Wardens seek to seal it permanently. The party must navigate the physical and ideological labyrinth to reach the Heart and make an irreversible choice.
