The Crucible of the Deepborn
The Underdark trembles as geothermal vents awaken, spewing primordial magma and birthing salamander legions. Two desperate factions vie for a legendary Adamantine pocket near the core: the Stonespurned, miners exiled for mutating in the toxic veins, now reliant on the ore's arcane resonance to stabilize their forms; and the Vent Watchers, a cabal of elemental sages who believe the spawning salamanders are a sacred purge, and the adamantine must be left untouched to prevent a catastrophic elemental rift. Players are trapped between survival, profit, and the apocalyptic cost of choice.
Chronicle Prelude
The safe hub of 'Grotto Refuge', a damp, geothermally warmed cavern warren lit by phosphorescent fungi. Displaced miners and wary traders barter salvage, while emissaries from both factions eye newcomers with calculation and desperation.
Environmental Traits
The deep earth is in flux; the hydrothermal vent 'Heart of the Crucible' is becoming a planar breach, spawning greater salamanders. The coveted adamantine pocket lies adjacent to it, and whichever faction controls it will determine the region's fate—whether as a mutated haven, a preserved wildness, or a smoldering ruin.
