The Crucible Pit: Rations and Rebellion
The Crucible Pit is a notorious forced-labor mine, where goblinoids, orcs, and other monstrous humanoids are worked to death extracting soul-steel ore for the surface kingdom's war machine. The daily ration of gruel and water is the only thing keeping the inmates alive, and the Overseer has just cut it in half 'for efficiency.' Tensions are at a breaking point. You are not heroes here; you are new conscripts, thrown into the pit for crimes real or imagined. Survival means navigating the brutal politics between the desperate inmates and the ruthless overseers, where every choice has a cost.
Chronicle Prelude
The Surface Stockade & Processing Yard: A grim, muddy enclosure at the top of the mine shaft. Watchtowers line the palisade walls. New prisoners are branded, stripped of gear, and issued dull pickaxes. The air smells of coal smoke, unwashed bodies, and despair. This is the last point of relative safety before the descent.
Environmental Traits
A regional crisis where the mine's output has plummeted. The surface kingdom demands more soul-steel, the Overseer blames 'lazy inmates,' and the inmates are starving. A violent riot is imminent, but the mine itself is unstable, and a collapse could kill everyone. The players' goal is to survive and escape, but the path out is blocked by this volatile conflict.
