The frozen corpse of Silas Varn, the infamous insurance purveyor who denied claims during the Great Frost, lies preserved in the heart of the Frostbite Trail. His body is now the locus of a bitter conflict between two desperate groups: the Icebound Reclaimers who seek to destroy his corpse to symbolically erase his legacy and the Sable Ledger Society who believe his preserved remains hold the key to a magical contract that could save the region from a new, supernatural blizzard. The Snow Apes of the trail, mutated by lingering necromantic cold from Varn's dealings, attack all trespassers indiscriminately, making every step a brutal fight for survival.

Chronicle Prelude

The players arrive at Haver's Rest, a half-frozen trading post clinging to the edge of the Frostbite Trail. The air smells of woodsmoke and desperation. A gaunt, fur-clad crowd gathers around a notice board plastered with conflicting pleas: one calling for the 'abomination's' destruction, another offering a fortune for the 'Key of the First Frost'.

Environmental Traits

A perpetual, unnatural blizzard, the 'Gales of Grievance,' emanates from the direction of Silas Varn's frozen corpse. It is growing in intensity, threatening to bury the entire region under eternal ice. The corpse itself is a frozen vault containing both the source of the curse and the means to stop it, depending on who you ask.

The Snow Ape Alpha
