The Whispering Woods, once a vital trade artery, has become a graveyard of gnawed wagons and petrified merchants. A leaked alchemical catalyst from a hidden Sylvari research grove has accelerated the growth of its carnivorous flora to monstrous proportions, turning the forest into an active ambush predator. Two desperate factions now wage a shadow war over the source: the Bloomwardens, who seek to contain the blight by any means necessary, and the Verdant Covenant, who see the catalyst as a tragic but necessary accelerant for a dying ecosystem's rebirth. Veteran adventurers are drawn into the tangle, forced to navigate a web of vine-wrapped lies and moral compromise to reach the epicenter—the Overgrown Reactor—and decide the fate of the forest.

Chronicle Prelude

The fortified logging town of Roothaven, clinging to the edge of the Whispering Woods. Its palisades are scarred by acidic sap, and its market is choked with desperate merchants and grim-faced Bloomwardens. The air smells of rot and chlorophyll.

Environmental Traits

A catastrophic alchemical leak has created the 'Ripening Catalyst,' causing predatory plants to grow at an alarming rate, ambush caravans, and strangle the ecosystem. The forest is actively hostile, and the catalyst is slowly seeping into the watershed, threatening the entire region.

Warden Captain Garrick
A broad-shouldered human man in full, scorched plate armor, bearing the rank insignia of a Bloomwarden captain. His helmet is off, revealing a grim, determined face streaked with soot. Covenant Dryad Ashe

Myconid Sage Sporeling
A large, ambulatory mushroom creature, standing about four feet tall. Its cap is a vibrant, mottled purple and blue, and its 'face' is a cluster of simple, glowing white spots above a downturned 'mouth.' It communicates through pulses of spores and a series of soft, rumbling hums.
The Blightmother
A colossal, semi-sentient entity fused with the cracked Sylvari Growth Engine. It appears as a mountain of pulsing, woody vines and roots, easily thirty feet tall, with a core of viridian light where the engine's crystal heart is exposed. Dozens of smaller vine tendrils lash out like tentacles, and from its 'head,' a cloud of shimmering, psychic spores constantly billows. It is not evil, but an ancient, terrified, and furious force of nature defending its reactor.
