The pristine, gem-studded sands of Whitewater Beach have become a cursed treasure trove. A massive, territorial saltwater crocodile, ancient and magically attuned, has claimed the beach as its nesting ground. Its eggs are uniquely infused with the ambient magic of the Amplification Gems, a smuggler's haul now buried in the sand, making the beast supernaturally powerful and fiercely protective. Two desperate groups seek the same prize, but their reasons for braving the maw of the crocodile could not be more different. Veteran players will navigate a web of lies, blood, and necessity, where every choice sharpens the moral blade.

Chronicle Prelude

The players arrive at the bustling, stilt-housed fishing village of Port Gullcry, a settlement clinging to the edge of the swampy delta that leads to Whitewater Beach. The air smells of salt, rotting seaweed, and desperation. The village is tense, its fishing boats beached, its people starving, all due to the monstrous crocodile that guards the bay.

Environmental Traits

The saltwater crocodile, dubbed 'Old Maw,' has become an apex magical predator due to nesting upon the Smugglers' Amplification Gems. The gems amplify the beast's size, regeneration, and territorial fury. The goal is not merely to kill it, but to decide what happens to the source of its power—the Gems—and who gets to claim the beach's resources once the beast is dealt with.

Syndicate Enforcer Brugg
A massive, bald human with a broken nose and numerous scars crisscrossing his forearms. He wears studded leather armor and carries a heavy, notched cleaver. His posture is aggressive, and he glares at all strangers with open suspicion.
Old Maw
A colossal saltwater crocodile, easily thirty feet from snout to tail. Its hide is a mosaic of thick, dark scales, scars, and patches of barnacle growth. Its eyes glow with a faint, amber light identical to the Amplification Gems, and its jaws are large enough to snap a boat in half. It moves with terrifying, deliberate power.
The Echo of Silas
A translucent, shimmering figure of a man in tattered smuggler's garb, forever bound to the spot where he died. His form flickers and distorts like a heat haze, and his voice is a faint, whispering echo. He does not acknowledge threats, only questions.
Reef Gazer Spirit
A swirling, elemental mote of water and sand, roughly humanoid in shape but constantly dissolving and reforming. It glows with the same amber light as the Amplification Gems and drifts protectively around the standing stone in the grotto.
