Vessels vanish without a trace, and the shoreline town of Glasswater thrives on salvage while the elven city of Aetheria, cut off from a vital trade portal, faces slow starvation. The ancient portal, a monument of magical engineering, lies shattered at the lake's bottom, its collapse coinciding with the beast's emergence. Veteran players will navigate the bitter feud between desperate factions, decipher elven and lizard-folk lore, and confront a truth that implicates both sides in a catastrophic magical experiment. The path to the truth is paved with difficult choices, environmental perils, and the constant, gnawing presence of the lake's apex predator.

Chronicle Prelude

The player arrives in Glasswater, a town built on the stumps of drowned forests at the lake's edge. The air is thick with the smell of brine, rotting wood, and cheap ale. Salvage crews argue over territories, and the town's 'governor' is a former pirate who taxes the haul. To the northeast, across the water, the faint, sorrowful lights of the besieged elven city Aetheria are visible at dusk.

Environmental Traits

The crisis is a magical ecological disaster. The Water Lizard is not a natural creature but a bioweapon/magical guardian gone haywire, its aggression tied to the unstable energies bleeding from the collapsed portal. The ultimate goal is to reach the portal's core nexus in the Inner Sanctum, choose a side to support or condemn, and either stabilize, destroy, or subvert the ancient magic to end the beast's rampage and determine the region's fate.
