The livestock of the frontier village of Greenhollow are vanishing, dragged screaming into the Whispering Woods by vine-wrapped horrors. The streams run with a strange, sweet-scented sap that accelerates plant growth to monstrous proportions. Two desperate factions, both with the survival of their people at heart, offer conflicting solutions to the blight. The heroes must navigate the treacherous woods, uncover the truth of the Ripening Catalyst, and decide who will control—and who will be consumed by—the woods' terrible bounty.

Chronicle Prelude

The fortified village of Greenhollow, nestled at the edge of the Whispering Woods. Its palisades are scarred by thorny vines, and the air hums with a low, vegetative drone. Livestock pens lie half-empty, and fearful villagers whisper of the 'Green Maw' that has awakened in the forest's heart.

Environmental Traits

A primordial, carnivorous forest is undergoing a violent, magical acceleration. The Ripening Catalyst, a potent alchemical runoff from a hidden ritual, is supercharging the flora, creating aggressive plant-animal hybrids that are hunting beyond the woods' borders. The crisis threatens to expand exponentially, turning the entire region into an uninhabitable, sentient jungle.

Corrupted Woodward
A shambling horror in tattered Ashen Circle robes. The human body is half-consumed by a thick, segmented parasitic worm that erupts from its chest cavity. The remaining eye is wide with frozen terror, and the mouth hangs open in a silent scream.
The Root-Devourer
A colossal, worm-like abomination of vegetable matter and chitin, easily thirty feet long. It is a monstrous, primal force, its body a fused mass of vine-like muscle, pulsating fungal growths, and razor-sharp mandibles designed for grinding stone and root. It is not evil, but utterly alien and destructive, the ancient parasite that drove the forest to its defensive madness.
