The scent of dried sage and lamp oil hits you first, a dry, dusty sweetness layered over the faint, chemical tang of cold coal in the grate. A single oil lamp flickers on a heavy oak desk, its light catching the consistent, dark grain and deep knot patterns in the hand-hewn timber walls. Your gaze follows the worn leather spine of a field journal, its edges smooth from use, to a half-finished botanical sketch, its ink a fresh stain on the paper, and then to the cold, grey mound of layered ash in the hearth's grate.
Crime Scene Environment
The space is defined by the flickering, warm light of kerosene lamps, creating deep, mobile shadows in the corners. The air is parched and still, carrying a fine, gritty dust that settles on every surface. Sound is muffled by the thick timber walls, with only the occasional, deep creak of the structure itself breaking the quiet.
