Initial Crime Scene
A stiff, cold wind whistles through the canyon mouth, carrying the scent of sage and damp red earth. The first thing you hear is the rhythmic creak of the main house's porch swing, moving in the draft. Three visual markers fix your location: the deep, parallel gouges scored into the heavy pine doorframe of the study, a ceramic vase of dried flowers sitting askew on the parlor table, and a fine, glittering dust on the office floorboards near the ajar iron safe.
Crime Scene Environment
The lighting profile is kerosene lamp and firelight, creating pools of warm, flickering yellow against deep, cool shadows. The humidity is low, the air dry and carrying a faint charge of static and woodsmoke.
